Maruchi Wotogbe

Maruchi is an international development specialist with over 11 years of experience leading the design and implementation of health system transformation and performance improvement programs in the public and private sector. His career journey has seen him become a trusted advisor to governments at the national and sub-national levels, global donor organizations and international development partners on multiple global health and research programs that cut across immunization, Maternal Newborn and Child Health(MNCH), nutrition, Polio, Malaria, and HIV/AIDS. He brings significant breadth and depth of experience, from the non-profit sector to the government to the private sector which he leans on to facilitate the collaborative design and implementation of sustainable solutions for improved financing and delivery of public health programs.

His work portfolio includes global, regional, and country-level engagements in countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, South-East Asia, the Middle East and Canada, which has provided him with a deep understanding of developing and developed countries contexts. Prior to joining GHV, he coordinated the Government of Canada's efforts to strengthen the Pan-Canadian public health supply chains for vaccines and other medical counter measures at the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). Before working at PHAC, he provided thought partnership and coordination support to Gavi and its Alliance supply chain partners to develop and implement the Gavi Alliance supply chain strategy and facilitated public health commodities integration alignment with the Global Fund. Prior to working at the global level, Maruchi led multiple projects to improve return on investments on government-led public health programs in Nigeria for different clients including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation who he provided project management support to successfully design and execute high-level innovative immunization and primary health care basket funding agreements with six Nigerian state governments.

Maruchi is a peer reviewer for the Vaccine journal where he provides expert reviews on vaccine delivery-focused manuscripts seeking to be published as articles on the journal. He is also actively involved in his city, Ottawa, where he serves on the Board of Directors of a local non-profit, Epilepsy Ottawa, providing strategic advice to facilitate the organization’s goals of providing support to persons living with Epilepsy and their families to live life to the fullest, without stigma and barriers.

He holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Development from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

In his spare time, Maruchi enjoys playing tennis, listening to music, watching football and spending time with his wife and kids
