Margie Lauter

As a senior consultant at GHV, Margie Lauter has over 15 years of international development policy, analysis, advocacy and research experience, working across foundations, non-governmental and academic organizations including the Gates Foundation; CARE; University of California, Berkeley; American Jewish World Service (AJWS); and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). She has expertise in international development policy with a focus on gender equity, women's economic empowerment and policy analysis. She has worked with teams on gender advocacy and related programming across West & East Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

Lauter has authored and led numerous research and analysis projects related to international development, gender and humanitarian response including instructing graduate-level courses on related topics and research methods at UC Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy. She has successfully contributed to the design and implementation of global policy and advocacy campaigns, working across governments, civil society groups, coalitions and multilateral agencies including the United Nations and the International Labor Organization (ILO).

Lauter graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Masters in Public Affairs, an MA in Global Studies and a BA in History and Art Practice. She currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Outside of work, she is an enthusiastic gardener and avid hiker. She also enjoys drawing, painting, and spending time with her family and three young children.
