Jamille Bigio

As a senior advisor at GHV, Jamille provides strategic guidance and support to partners such as Pivotal Ventures to catalyze social impact globally. She brings deep expertise in advancing women’s and girls’ leadership around the world, from the United States White House and heartlands to the campaign trail.

Previously, Jamille served as the senior coordinator for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment at the U.S. Agency for International Development, overseeing a doubling in gender equality investments globally, across health, education, economic security, political and civic participation, gender-based violence, and humanitarian relief, among other priorities. Prior to that, she was a senior fellow on Women and Foreign Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations, where she researched, lectured, and published widely on the relationship between gender equality, national security, and global prosperity.

Jamille previously served as the director for human rights and gender on the White House National Security Council staff, as a representative on the White House Council on Women and Girls, and as a senior advisor to the U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues. In addition, Jamille has provided strategic guidance on women’s economic and civic participation across the U.S. heartlands; worked at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in New York, Ethiopia, and Iraq; and for public health nongovernmental organizations in Ethiopia.

Jamille is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School and the University of Maryland. She lives in the Washington DC area with her family. Outside of work, she loves hiking and making art.
