As a senior consultant at GHV, Dr. Geremew Tarekegne Tsegaye supports the Immunization Initiatives & Multilateral Engagement Team with the Preventative Oral Cholera Vaccine (pOCV) Initiative. He brings over two decades of experience leading global health programs with partners USAID, WHO, UNICEF, Gavi, and UKAID/FCDO. Within his portfolio, Geremew contributes deep expertise in immunization program management, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and health systems strengthening.
Geremew has over 20 years of experience in global health, focusing on infectious disease control, outbreak response, public health program management, and government relations. His work is rooted in advancing equitable access to health services through data-driven strategies and collaborative engagement.
Before joining GHV, Geremew served as chief of party for the USAID TB LON KAP Activity and held senior leadership roles at EngenderHealth, Armauer Hansen Research Institute, Jhpiego- Ethiopia, and the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. His contributions include spearheading TB, immunization, and maternal-child health initiatives across Ethiopia and advising on vaccine strategy and ethics.
Geremew holds an MD from Jimma University, an MPH from Université Libre de Bruxelles, and an MSc in Bioethics from the Erasmus Mundus consortium. He has lived and worked across Africa and Europe and currently resides in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Outside of work, Geremew enjoys mentoring and coaching young professionals and exploring philosophical writings on health equity.
