Melanie Wise

Melanie is a Senior Communications Consultant with GHV. She works primarily with the Operations Team to develop marketing and communications strategies that support organizational goals and build internal capacities to drive impact.

Melanie has 20 years of expertise across education and public/global health. Her skills include strategic communications, brand development, digital marketing, storytelling, media engagement, writing, and editing.

Previously, Melanie served as senior director of global marketing and communications for Worldreader; strategic communications director for the East Africa Preterm Birth Initiative at the University of California, San Francisco; and chief communications officer for Breakthrough Collaborative. In addition to her staff roles, Melanie has served dozens of organizations across sectors as a consultant. She also serves as a board member of Leap Arts in Education and formerly served as board vice president for nonprofit Chooda (founder of the Bike Zambia charity ride, which provided financial support for health and education efforts in Zambia).

Melanie holds an MA in English from San Francisco State University and a BFA in visual arts from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCUarts). She has worked in Kenya, Rwanda, Spain, Uganda, and the United States. She currently resides in California.

Outside of work, Melanie enjoys spending time with her family, preferably in beautiful natural spaces.
