We are extremely fortunate to have experts on our team whose depth of experience and dedication shape the impact of our partnerships around the world. Latasha Treger Slavin, a Senior Advisor, is one of those experts with more than 25 years of work in global health and development--improving outcomes for women, children, and communities globally.

At GHV, Latasha supports partners like the Gates Foundation with cross-cutting support and technical expertise across reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, adolescent health and nutrition, policy analysis, strategic planning, grant analysis, portfolio review, advocacy, and performance monitoring. Her work is grounded in a deep understanding of global socio-economic and political contexts, development economics, health financing, and the power of evidence to drive impact. Over the course of her career, Latasha has collaborated with governments, multilateral agencies, community-based organizations, philanthropies, research institutions, and private-sector partners. She has also contributed to initiatives that strengthen health systems, expand access to care, and elevate the needs and voices of the people most affected by inequities.
Before joining GHV, Latasha served as Principal Investigator and Deputy Director for a large PEPFAR-funded HIV treatment, care, and support program in South Africa. She advised the South African government on the accelerated expansion of differentiated HIV care models while ensuring that services remained accessible and responsive to the needs of people living with HIV. Her work across the African region—including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Lesotho, and Uganda—has been shaped by a deep commitment to partnership, equity, and data-driven decision-making.
“Behind every data point is a life -- mothers, babies, children, nurses, communities. This is what drives and anchors my purpose. As a mother of three, I carry a deep awareness of what it means for a system to work, or fail, when families need it most. That understanding drives my determination to strengthen the policies, partnerships, and pathways that protect women and children everywhere.”
Outside of work, Latasha finds joy in the busy, vibrant energy of her three teenagers, often cheering them on at sports events or watching them perform on stage. She currently resides in Johannesburg, South Africa, and brings the same warmth and grounded presence to her personal life that she brings to her work.
